OCRA President’s Letter 2023

Posted on August 25, 2023 by OCRAAugust 25, 2023

Holly Dickinson, OCRA President
Do one thing every day that scares you.
– Eleanor Roosevelt –

“Change is good…. you must change to grow” These thoughts can be scary… and they can also serve as a pivot toward new challenges and success. I went back to a community college in 2017 after having my son and daughter raised and wanting to do something in the medical field far from my 19-year career as an Early Childhood Administrator and teacher.

That same year I became a grandma and thought I may not complete school due to family needs coming first. I did complete the CIM degree and graduated in 2019. Full disclosure: it took me two tries to pass the CTR exam. The first time I did not pass by literally one point! Determined not to let that stop me I was able to re-take within a couple weeks, thanks to Covid additional test windows and I passed.

I think it is important to share my story with anyone who can benefit from my failures to see when you are down, you can only go one way– and that is up! As your President Successor, I look forward to working though change and growth. There are growing pains to be expected but I have total confidence our regions and our state committee will bloom and grow through your dedication and hard work!

Best Regards,

Holly Dickinson, AAS, CTR
OCRA President 2023-2024
