Under the direction of the Oncology Outcomes Manager/Coordinator, is responsible for completing activities that make up the day-to-day operations of the network cancer registry including, but not limited to, the following activities: abstracting malignant and non-malignant cases into the cancer registry in accordance with the guidelines set by national and state standard setters, treatment updates on existing cases, casefinding activities including maintenance of the suspense file, and follow-up activities. Provides assistance with special studies, departmental projects, participate in cancer registry quality initiatives, cancer conference support, answering the departmental phone line, and various aspects of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation process. May require travel between KHN facilities to support the network cancer registry activities. Attends local/state/national meetings/conferences as required.
- Education: Associate’s degree (60 college credits) required, to have included medical terminology, pharmacology, and 2 semesters of human anatomy and physiology (or equivalent) at a minimum.
- Experience: Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required, cancer registry experience preferred (especially in a healthcare system or network cancer registry structure), METRIQ experience preferred, Epic experience preferred.
- Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certified Tumor Registrar® (CTR) credential by the National Cancer Registrar’s Association required/preferred, if not credentialed at time of hire employee must obtain CTR credential within 3 years of hire date (a condition of hire); Registered Health Information Technician®/Administrator® (RHIT/RHIA) credential by the American Health Information Management Association preferred
