The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is seeking a full-time OCISS Operations Supervisor (Health Planning Administrator 1 – 20013677) HYBRID, for the Bureau Health Improvement and Wellness/Chronic Disease (BHIW), to supervise the cancer registrars involved in cancer data collection. BHIW is comprised of programs which address prevention and improved health outcomes for Ohioans across the lifespan. The Ohio Cancer Incidence Surveillance System (OCISS) is Ohio’s central cancer registry. OCISS collects information on all newly-diagnosed cancers in the state. OCISS data are used to determine the burden of cancer in Ohio’s communities and to target cancer prevention and early detection programs.
Primary duties:
•Supervises, directs and evaluates Ohio Cancer Incidence Surveillance System (OCISS) staff responsible for cancer data collection, consolidation and editing-related activities, coordinating reporting source database, tracking and reviewing case report submissions, and reviewing pathology reports.
•Documents work performance for each cancer registrar to include measures of productivity and accuracy.
•Supervises all aspects of training both for OCISS cancer registrars and external partners that report cancer data to OCISS.
•Training includes national standards for data collection and the information systems used by OCISS for data collection and consolidation.
